Seeking feedback for a course idea
I am very new to the idea of creating online courses and coaching. I have extensive experience in teaching one on one and to small groups (normally law enforcement and military). I am considering putting together a course for home defense because I know many people purchase firearms just to protect their home and family. The course would not be an assault style course but very specific to tactics to keep you and your family safe.
If anyone has any feedback as to if they think the course would be viable and why or why not I would appreciate any feedback.

I think your skill set is awesome and offers a lot of potential for courses people need and want. You need to do your homework (keyword research to find the most relevant niche in this area you can break into). Go to Facebook and see what the groups on firearms are talking about what problem can you solve? Go to TikTok to see what’s trending on this topic. There are some good Keyword tools I like Ubersuggest because it gives a lot for a reasonable price point.

To add to Dr Melanie’s advice: I would also go to course marketplaces like Udemy & Skillshare and see if there are existing home defense courses that are selling well. Also check out Youtube and see if there are Youtube channels that focus on self defense which have strong viewership (Multiple videos with 100K+ views)

I’m new at both online course creation and to gun ownership. My licensing instructor suggested a bunch of YouTube videos. Among many others, I found several of the ones for home and personal protection to be by Jason Hanson to be very informative. He’s great at delivering and demonstrating his information. Over the last couple of years, he’s had many network interviews and demonstrations. For what it’s worth, I just found him engaging and his background solid. That’s not to say that he’s the only one.
